We asked our customers how long they'd had their Minimink. We weren't quite prepared for the answers.
What started as a simple question became something much more — stories of blankets that had followed children through childhood, travelled to university, been gifted to friends and family, and in some cases were still being loved more than two decades later.
One customer told us:
"I've had mine for 22 years!!!"
Twenty-two years. That's a lot of winters, movie nights, quiet afternoons and everyday moments for one blanket to have been part of.
From one generation to the next
Another customer shared a beautiful story we particularly loved:
"My daughter was gifted her creme Minimink smuggle 19.5 years ago and has been carrying it around ever since. Blankie is very much still a daily part of our family. In anticipation of our granddaughters arrival, I have just bought a pink snuggle. I hope she has as much comfort and support from her blankie as our daughter has."
Almost twenty years after her daughter received her first Minimink she's now chosen a pink one for her granddaughter. We can't think of a lovelier way for a family tradition to continue.
Sometimes a blanket is a hug
Another long-time Minimink family told us they own every colour and have gifted them over the years to the people they love.
"We have every colour Minimink! We have gifted so many over the years to our loved ones."
"When we can't hug in person these provide the warmest hug!!"
That one stopped us in our tracks a little.
Because perhaps that's what a much-loved blanket eventually becomes. Not simply something that keeps you warm, but something familiar. Something you reach for when you want to feel comfortable, settled and at home.
And apparently, we're not the only ones who love them...
Some members of the family, it seems, have absolutely no intention of sharing.

Made to be loved, not saved for best
Minimink has been part of Australian homes since 2003. Seeing blankets still being loved 19, 20 and 22 years means more to us than we can really put into words.
Our blankets were always designed to be lived with — curled up under, dragged from bedroom to sofa, shared with children, washed when life happens and, surrendered to the dog.
And perhaps that's why some of them eventually become part of the family.
